Palawan in my Mind!

Tuloy ang Laban!
2008 Year of the Earth RAT!
The beginning of the year of the Earth Rat will occur on February 6, 2008. It will also mark the end of the year of the Fire Pig in Chinese Astrology. The Rat is the first Chinese Zodiac sign and the Pig is the last Chinese Zodiac sign. Therefore, on February 6, 2008 a new 12 year Chinese Astrology cycle will begin and the completion of the previous 12 year Chinese Astrology cycle will occur.

By its order in the Chinese Zodiac horoscope, the Rat symbolizes: fresh starts, new beginnings, renewal and rebirth. Therefore, things that are started in the year of the Earth Rat will have a good chance of long-term success. For example, a new business started in the year of the Rat will stand a very good chance at being successful. The Earth element will rule the Chinese Zodiac Rat year. The Earth element represents practicability and conservatism. Unfortunately for the Rat, whose fixed element is Water, the Earth element weakens Water. On the flip side, if your fixed element is Metal, then the Earth element will work to your advantage.
The Pig by the nature of its order in the Chinese Zodiac horoscope symbolizes: completion, finality, closure and endings. Therefore, in the Pig year it is auspicious to wrap up projects and undertakings to bring things to a close. For example, any uncompleted projects or loose ends you have should all be tied up before the end of the year of the Pig.

Enchanting Enchanted!

One of the reasons (aside from being a premiere nights addict) why I watched “Enchanted” is its cast. Seeing my favorite actor Patrick Dempsey who have done movie hits such as “ Can’t Buy Me Love in 87, Happy Together & Loverboy in 89 and received significant public attention for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the drama Grey's Anatomy…..
Enchanted is a delightful musical-comedy that combines traditional hand-drawn cartoon with live-action drama. It begins as a Disney animated fairy tale set in a faraway kingdom, where a fair maiden meets a handsome prince and falls in love. Just as they are about to be married, the prince's evil stepmother tricks the maiden and casts her far away from their cartoon kingdom.
She emerges in the real-world as a very beautiful real-life woman (Amy Adams) who must now navigate the madness of that modern city called
Directed by Kevin Lima, Enchanted is quite, well, enchanting. The concept of having the simple values of fairy-tale characters clash with cynical values of modern-day Man is an inspired idea that yields plenty of delightful gags and one-liners. Especially funny is a musical number where Amy Adams starts singing in a
Indeed, Amy's peachy, perky performance will charm you thoroughly. She reminds you of all the storybook princesses you may have liked from Snow White to Sleeping Beauty to the Little Mermaid. The men aren't half bad either, with the swoon-worthy Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden (as the fairytale prince) occupying the other two corners of the requisite love triangle.
Amusingly naive, sweet and magical, Enchanted is the best guilty pleasure to be had right now.

Nicole Kidman stars as a Washington, D.C., psychiatrist who discovers a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. Weirder still: The origins of the virus appear to be extraterrestrial.
You get Kidman doing a variety of odd accents, the sad sight of cool character actor Jeffrey Wright reduced to being the Guy Who Explains All the Fake Science, a kid actor who's had the emotion drained out of him already by Hollywood instead of by alien pods, the dowsing of weird, creepy psychological terror in favor of more car chases and crashes and whiplash editing that makes no sense.
ROUGE ASSASSIN

When you don't bother to write an interesting story and you rely on unimaginative car chases and martial-arts face-kickery, how do you salvage your movie? With lot of guns, knives and swords, that's how. Even with Jet Li on board here, you don't get to see a ton of really great mano a mano. It's mostly just people shooting each other in the face. There's a ton of that, actually. And that's, you know, fine and all, but it's not what you're led to believe is going to go down. You'll be disappointed in the film but satisfied, more or less, by the sheer volume of bloodshed.

SHOOT 'EM UP
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
"… the most audacious, implausible, cheerfully offensive, hyperactive action picture I've seen …"
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
"… a bloody, trashy, volcanically depraved action movie …"
HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
"It's all very silly, but also undeniably fun …"
VILLAGE VOICE
"… extremely violent guilty pleasure of a thriller …"
USA TODAY
"Though some sequences are eye-poppingly cool and the dark humor can be entertaining, this feels like a stylish exercise in absurdly excessive violence."
BONGZEE
“ kaloka itong movie…kaka xcite ang mga barilan sequences…ang fav ko ang sex scene ni monica at clive…habang binabaril ni clive ang mga kalaban binabaril din niya si monica…hehehehe”

DAYWATCH
Now comes Daywatch, the second in the trilogy that will eventually conclude with Duskwatch.
Here, the same set characters have returned to reprise their roles as supernatural beings who walk the earth among us. They are called the Others, and they could be anything from witches and seers, and beasts and vampires. But they take on humans forms, moving around us in normal clothes and dark shades such that we are not aware of them.
Divided between the forces of good and evil, the groups operate according to an ancient truce struck to keep a balance between lightness and dark. But that truce is about to be destroyed because of a young boy (Dima Martynov), whose role as the long-awaited messiah threatens to make the evil forces stronger than the good.
Like Nightwatch, Daywatch has been shot in a frenetic, MTV-style pace that may or may not give you a headache. At times, the images fly by so fast you want to close your eyes and rest your mind for a while before being assaulted by the next batch of images.
RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION
In this third and final entry of the horror franchise, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is still on the run from the diabolical Umbrella Corporation, which has turned her into a superhuman fighting machine. Hiding in the Nevada desert, Alice teams up with a bunch of outcasts to once and for all get rid of the nasty virus that's turning the entire population into zombies.

I KNOW WHO KILLED ME

Yesterday i watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, a supposedly "gay-friendly" movie made by straight men. Ang bida sina Adam Sandler and Kevin James as two firemen who fake a gay marriage for insurance purposes, but get into trouble when the insurance company uncovers the fraud. Filled with cheap caricatures and mildly offensive jokes about gays, I wouldn't recommend this movie, may nakakatawa pero nakakainis yung halos lahat ng scenes....kung Adam Sandler fan ka chika lang pero sayang lang pera mo.....hmp...

Colin & Ewan may bagong movie, abangan ko to!

As is often the case with Allen's films, not much is known of the film's plot at this early point. In an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer's Steven Rea, however, he did reveal it will be a serious drama, à la Match Point, and Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor will play brothers.
The film was premiered in secret at Oviedo in Spain on June 18, 2007.It was officially premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2007 and is scheduled to be released on November 30, 2007.The film will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2007.
